More pics!

I think Ella is ready to call it a day!

The morning the puppies were born..

Here is Kim's version:

She woke me up at 6 am making noises and then she was shaking (aka labor pains). At 7:20 am she made this horrible duck sound and when I picked her up she calmed down. I grabbed some towels and laid her in the box not realizing what I was doing. Then she made this painful howl and attacked her hind end. When I looked to see what the problem was, there was a head coming out with a sack. I called for my roommate Anna and asked her if Ella was in labor, she looked and when Anna moved Ella's tail, Ella attacked her hind end again and soon the puppy was out and she had cleaned her first baby up. I called Jenn and then Kelly and Kelly had me listen for the puppy to make some noise, I heard her make some small gasps of air and then she was crawling all over the place. Ella sat on her twice not realising the puppy just wanted to drink some milk, but finally she let the puppy drink. At around 9:10 the second puppy was born and then 15 min. the third little girl was born. They are so cute.

Jake misses Ella

Kim came over last night to go to a Birthday party of a friend. Jake was sad to see she came without Ella again. He misses playing with her. The puppies are finally big enough that you are able to see them move around in Ella's not so small belly. I think we both are getting nervous and anxious to see these puppies. Kim more so then I am, but it would be different if it was my baby about to give birth. I know I did my share of over reacting when Jake was a baby. Pictures to come :) Tuesday Ella hits her 57 day gestation, so the babies could come any time after that.

The countdown has begun!

Things are getting really exciting for Kim and I. Miss Ella on the other hand is just more and more tired. She has started sleeping in the whelping box and really seems to enjoy it. It's crazy to think in the next 7-10 days there will be little puppies in that box with her!

Our good friend Kelly has volunteered to come down and help with the delivery, we are hoping all goes well with no difficulties. Miss Ella is definitely eating more food, and feeding those growing babies. She has had her maternity cut so you can really see how big her belly is getting now! More pictures to come!

Puppies growing...

It's amazing how quickly Ella is getting big. Each time I go to visit her belly has doubled in size. She has definitely lost her prance and is more in the waddle stage. She is sleeping a lot and just wants to be cuddled. It looks like the last week of January is probably going to be when she delivers. It's exciting but also a bit scary (I've already had one nightmare!) I am pretty sure we detected at least 3 heartbeats. I need to get my stethoscope and go back down for a better exam.

On a side note.....

I visited Miss Ella last night.. she is getting huge! We will hopefully find out next week how many babies are growing inside her. Tonight I came home to my dog Jake. Jake is a fox terrier and completely mischievious. He loves to get in the garbage. I've tried everything from lemon juice to Cayenne pepper.. he still gets in it. If I don't put this green thermos between the garbage can and the counter.. he gets in the garbage. Today I made Chili... from what I can tell he must have gotten the package of chili powder out of the garbage tonight. There was about 1/3 of the package left.... you can't see it as I cleaned it up before seeing the trail... but there was lovely chili powder streaked across the floor in front of the garbage can. Next it looks like he took his new found treasure out the doggie door. He's learned if he takes the food outside to devour and shred I don't find out about it so quickly. As you can see ... out the doggie door.. down the stairs... the trail continues. I might go out in the morning and see what else ended up outside. What a silly dog!

Pregnancy Confirmed

Well Miss Ella is definitely pregnant! Kim's two friends, as well as Yoda's mommy Kelly have claimed the first 3 puppies. We will soon find out if Ella is having more then that. Kim and I are both so excited to see these new puppies. Especially since Ella has the cutest little personality, I can't wait to see baby princesses prancing around the house!
